Forty-Eight

Tang Yu had invited several people from the marketing department for her birthday, including two from the live-streaming department. When Su Hao and Tang Yu entered the private room, everyone inside was momentarily stunned.

Then, they all seemed to stand up in unison. Tang Yu pointed at them and said, "No need to stand up to welcome us. Don’t be so formal."

"Are we welcoming you? We’re welcoming Su Hao!" Tang Yu’s assistant quickly got up from his seat and pulled out a chair for Su Hao. "Su Hao, please have a seat."

Su Hao raised her eyebrows and said, "Thank you."

The enthusiasm of these people towards her was overwhelming.

After Su Hao sat down, the others took their seats as well. Tang Yu clicked her tongue and sat beside Su Hao. To be honest, she also wanted to treat Su Hao this way, but she was afraid Su Hao would notice, so she could only try to maintain the current situation.

Yesterday's incident had caused a huge uproar throughout the company.

Not long ago, everyone was still discussing what Su Hao, the new company spokesperson, looked like. Then, this incident happened. Mr. Zhou was so angry that it shook the entire headquarters.

And he didn’t hesitate to fire people. It was truly terrifying.

Thinking of this, everyone looked at Su Hao with great respect.

To be honest, they were all long-time employees who often gossiped about Zhou Yang in their chat groups. They knew how he treated his girlfriend compared to how he treated his pursuers. They could say that this man was always high and mighty, even if he treated his girlfriend well, there was still a limit. It was unthinkable for him to mix up company employees because of them.

In fact, Zhou Yang didn’t allow his girlfriend to come to the company meetings. The reason he was good to Lu Mimi was that two years ago, his then-girlfriend had seen Lu Mimi, who was dressed so provocatively, coming down the stairs with Zhou Yang, and immediately felt jealous.

The next day, that girl came to the company while Zhou Yang was absent, showing some intention of firing Lu Mimi. Later, Zhou Yang found out and warned that girl.

Although they didn’t break up, it was clear Zhou Yang’s feelings for that girl were only so-so.

On the other hand, Lu Mimi had quite a bit of glory during that period.

But what good was that? Now, for Su Hao’s sake, Zhou Yang fired her without hesitation. It wasn’t just Lu Mimi; even the senior Zhang Xian was fired, just a step away from a promotion.

All for the baseless isolation of Su Hao.

Thus, everyone’s look at Su Hao was genuinely warm and friendly.

“Su Hao, try this! It’s delicious.”

“And this one too, the pork ribs taste great.”

“Su Hao, do you like seaweed? Let me get you a bowl.”

The birthday girl, Tang Yu, was completely neglected, but she didn’t mind. She also helped serve dishes to Su Hao. Su Hao immediately waved her hand and said, “Enough, enough, it’s Tang Yu’s birthday today.”

“Oh, right, it’s Tang Yu’s birthday. Let’s toast to you!” They seemed to remember and turned to raise their glasses to Tang Yu. Tang Yu smiled and raised her glass, saying, “Thank you all for your support over the years, which has helped me achieve today’s success. Thank you, thank you.”

Her brows were full of confidence.

In sales, Tang Yu was very capable and was known as a queen in the industry.

“Oh, no need to be so polite. We all still need you to support us.”

“Haha, okay, cheers!” Tang Yu raised her glass forward.

Su Hao stood beside her, just poured a large glass of wine, and looked at Tang Yu, dressed so professionally and surrounded by so many followers, feeling both blessings and envy.

Confidence indeed needs to be created by oneself.

Su Hao raised her glass and clinked it with Tang Yu’s, with a smile and a blessing, “Congratulations, and I hope you buy a house soon.”

“Haha, I like that.” Tang Yu laughed heartily, clinked glasses with Su Hao, and said with a smile, “I will. I’ll buy one next year, so remember to come and see it.”

Su Hao nodded. “Okay.”

Everyone tilted their heads back to drink.

Su Hao also drank a large gulp.

Tang Yu put her arm around Su Hao and said, “I’m waiting for you to look after me.”

The wine was quite strong, and after Su Hao drank it, her throat felt a burning sensation. She covered her mouth and burped. Hearing Tang Yu’s words, she thought it was a joke and didn’t take it seriously.

The meal lasted over an hour, and the sky outside gradually darkened.

Tang Yu had also arranged for a KTV private room. A group of people, with their wine-induced burps, left the restaurant and moved to the KTV next door on the top floor.

They also brought a cake and went upstairs.

As they entered the private room, everyone was swaying and singing karaoke.

With the effects of alcohol, Su Hao sat in her chair and discreetly yawned, covering her mouth.

Tang Yu frequently went in and out of the private room, seemingly waiting for someone. After a while, she came in and sat next to Su Hao, only to realize Su Hao was a bit drunk. She immediately patted Su Hao’s shoulder, "Su Hao?"

Su Hao looked at her, smiling with her lips pressed together, and her eyes glistening with a hint of moisture.

Tang Yu saw this and thought, how beautiful.

At that moment, everyone was startled.

"Mr. Zhou!"

"Mr. Zhou!"

"Wow, the place suddenly looks more splendid."

Everyone was stammering.

Tang Yu saw Zhou Yang and immediately stood up, "Mr. Zhou."

"You chose such a place for the celebration?" Zhou Yang looked clearly displeased, "There’s no parking space."

He glanced at the fruits and snacks on the table.

Zhou Yang took off his cigarette, extinguished it, and said, "Let’s change the venue."

Everyone thought the place was quite nice, but after Zhou Yang’s criticism, they suddenly felt it wasn’t that great. After extinguishing the cigarette, Zhou Yang noticed Su Hao sitting on the sofa, dazed. He paused for a moment, subconsciously handing his coat to Tang Yu, who carefully took it.

She held it with one hand, afraid of damaging it.

Zhou Yang rolled up his sleeves and asked, "Has she been drinking?"

"Yes, she had a bit earlier. It seems she’s drunk. Su Hao can’t hold her alcohol well."

Rolling up his sleeves, which revealed his watch, the tall man walked over and scoffed, "She really can’t drink, just one glass and she’s out."

Previously in Kyoto.

When he was drunk and touched her, she didn’t even notice.

He approached her as she rubbed her forehead and fanned her collar with one hand, looking quite hot. Zhou Yang was a bit nervous. After a few seconds, he crouched down in front of her, looking up at her.

She was drunk to the point of losing her sense of direction, her beautiful eyes filled with moisture, and she looked down at him.

Seeing this look,

Zhou Yang’s throat tightened.

She tilted her head, her hair falling to the side, her brows and eyes curved into a gentle smile, with a hint of a dimple. Zhou Yang’s breath caught, his heart pounding as if it were about to leap out of his chest. He lowered his head, cursed softly, and pressed his firm chin against Su Hao’s knee, the corner of his lips curving up into a bold smile.

Zhou Yang, you’re finished.

Everyone witnessing this scene was utterly shocked.

Each person held their breath, afraid of disturbing Zhou Yang.

Someone managed to squeeze out this sentence from their throat.

Ten minutes later, Zhou Yang stood up, lifted the dazed Su Hao horizontally, and said to Tang Yu, "Since she’s drunk, I’ll take her home. You all move to another place, to the Starry Sky Club."

Starry Sky Club?

A high-end place!

A place that might be out of reach for a lifetime, Tang Yu’s eyes lit up. She felt she’d struck gold tonight, thanks to Su Hao. She sighed and asked, "Mr. Zhou, what about this coat?"

"Put it on her."

Tang Yu immediately stepped forward and draped the coat over Su Hao’s shoulders. Su Hao, already fainted from the alcohol, leaned against Zhou Yang’s chest, breathing steadily.

After covering her, Tang Yu whispered, "Mr. Zhou, make sure to safely take Su Hao home because her mother added me on WeChat, and she will ask about her."

Zhou Yang raised an eyebrow, "Got it."

After saying that, he glanced at the woman in his arms and strode towards the door. Tang Yu sighed, ran outside to call the elevator, and Zhou Yang carried Su Hao downstairs.

A Hummer was parked outside. Zhou Yang placed her in the back seat and fastened the seatbelt. Su Hao’s head drooped, leaning against the seat. Zhou Yang didn’t leave immediately. He supported himself and watched her for a moment. After a few seconds, he reached out to brush the hair from her forehead, sliding his hand down to lift her chin and looked at her sleeping face.

He looked at her for a long while before finally pulling his hand away.

He turned around and started the car.

The place where Su Hao lived wasn’t far away. After driving for a short while, Su Hao’s phone rang. At a traffic light, Zhou Yang turned and took out the phone to check.

Mom

It was Cheng Ling.

Zhou Yang cleared his throat, didn’t answer, and put the phone back down.

Soon, the car arrived at Huahui Community, where a tall, refined man was standing at the entrance, fiddling with his phone. Zhou Yang squinted, rolled down the car window, and glanced at the man.

It was Tang Rui.

He sneered.

Then, he got out of the car, bent down to unbuckle Su Hao’s seatbelt, and lifted her up, holding her across his waist with her face resting on his chest.

As she nuzzled a bit, Zhou Yang bent down and kissed her forehead.

Looking up again, he met Tang Rui’s probing gaze.

Their eyes locked. Zhou Yang’s narrow eyes grew colder, exuding a powerful presence. He looked down and kissed Su Hao’s forehead again, then continued down.

The air smelled of alcohol.

Tang Rui guessed that Su Hao was drunk.

Su Hao’s phone rang again, it was Cheng Ling urging.

Zhou Yang furrowed his brows, enduring the irritation.

He walked towards the stairs. When Tang Rui realized that the person in Zhou Yang’s arms was indeed Su Hao, his expression changed. He followed them upstairs. Zhou Yang, hearing the footsteps, coldly said, “Get lost.”

Tang Rui did not respond.

The two men continued their silent confrontation up to the third floor. Perhaps having heard the commotion or sensing something, or just being overly concerned, Cheng Ling opened the door from the inside.

She saw the two tall men standing outside with an unpleasant atmosphere and was momentarily stunned. Looking again, she saw Su Hao in Zhou Yang’s arms and widened her eyes, "Su—"

“Aunt Cheng, Su Hao got drunk at Tang Yu’s birthday party,” Zhou Yang tightened his hold on Su Hao, feeling every breath she took was draining him.

So, he needed to put her down quickly.

“Oh, I see. Come in, come in, you’ve worked hard.” Cheng Ling, realizing the situation, stepped aside to let them in.

Zhou Yang cast a sidelong glance at Tang Rui, silently sneering, and walked into the house, following Cheng Ling directly to the master bedroom. He carefully laid Su Hao on the bed. Her room had a scent that was uniquely hers. As Zhou Yang withdrew his hand, his eyes inadvertently scanned the room.

Cheng Ling adjusted the blanket.

She invited Zhou Yang out, who straightened his collar, smiling, and walked out.

Cheng Ling then turned to Tang Rui, her lips curled into a smile, and asked, “Have you eaten tonight?”

Zhou Yang’s expression shifted.

He looked at Tang Rui.

Did Aunt Cheng really like Tang Rui, her ex-husband?
