After Su Hao agreed, Tang's father still seemed a bit anxious and said, “Su Hao, could you please let me know how things are once you see him? He’s always reporting good news and not the bad. We only found out after two days. Thank you for your trouble.”
Su Hao could sense Tang’s father's worry and responded, “Okay, I’ll call you later.”
“Thank you,” Tang’s father said seriously.
After hanging up, Su Hao scooped a spoonful of ice cream and said, “Did you hear that?”
Zhou Yang’s expression darkened, and he leaned back in his chair. “Do you have to go?”
“I’m going to check on him.”
Zhou Yang said, “You’re not allowed.”
Su Hao looked at him.
She scooped another spoonful and brought it to his lips. Zhou Yang pushed her wrist away with his fingertips. Su Hao paused and was about to put it in her mouth when he changed his mind.
He grabbed her wrist, leaned in, and took a bite of the ice cream himself, his tone firm. “I said, you’re not going.”
Su Hao replied, “I have to go. Uncle Tang helped me a lot back then.”
Tang Rui’s parents had always been very kind, including his little sister; they were all good people.
Zhou Yang’s expression was dark as he took the spoon from Su Hao’s hand and fed her a bite of the ice cream. Su Hao didn’t refuse and opened her mouth to eat it. Zhou Yang squinted, “It’s so sweet. Doesn’t it make you sick?”
Su Hao’s eyes curved into a smile.
Her eyes were full of water.
Zhou Yang was momentarily entranced.
After paying the bill, the two of them went downstairs. The valet brought the car to the front of the building. This building was mainly for business, and the lobby was sparsely lit with no one at the front desk as they had all finished their shifts. The black Bentley’s interior lights automatically turned on when the door was opened, and Su Hao got in.
Unexpectedly, Zhou Yang followed her and bent down. He grabbed her hand as she tried to fasten her seatbelt, covering her lips with his, maintaining the position. He pressed a button next to the seat, causing it to recline, and Su Hao was laid back. She curled up, resting against his shoulder as he kissed her and fastened her seatbelt.
His movements were a bit rough, and then his lips moved from her mouth to her cheek, neck, and collarbone.
Su Hao pushed him away.
Her body was a bit tense.
He bit down hard on her neck.
Su Hao gasped in pain and gave him a light smack. Zhou Yang moved back slightly. In the dim light, his distinct fingers adjusted her collar.
Looking at the kiss mark, he smiled and gently let go.
He then kissed her forehead before adjusting the seat back to its original position.
Su Hao’s face was flushed, and she rubbed her face, watching him walk around to the driver’s seat. She checked her phone; Tang’s father had sent the address.
Su Hao said, “Please take me home first.”
Zhou Yang bit on a cigarette and looked at her, “I’ll take you to the hospital. I also want to check on my rival.”
The term "rival."
Su Hao’s eyebrows twitched. She turned to look at him. Zhou Yang supported his forehead with one hand and held the cigarette between his fingers, not yet lit.
Su Hao paused and said, “Okay.”
After saying that, she provided the hospital address.
If he wanted to go, he could go.
The person causing trouble wasn’t her.
Tang Rui was in the inpatient department of the Central Hospital. Tang’s father sent a voice message, indicating it was likely due to overwork and stress.
At this time, it was still early enough for visiting hours in the inpatient department. They went up to the eighth floor. Tang Rui’s room was a single suite. Su Hao arrived at the door.
Looking inside from the outside, Tang Rui was lying in bed in black pajamas, with an IV drip, but still typing on his laptop.
Zhou Yang snorted, “He might be faking it.”
Su Hao glanced back at him.
Zhou Yang fell silent.
Su Hao opened the door, making a slight noise. Tang Rui looked up and seemed a bit surprised. He might have been very busy, with some dark circles under his eyes. Seeing Su Hao, he froze for a moment. “Su Hao, why are you here?”
Su Hao smiled, “Just came to check on you.”
She walked inside.
“I’m fine,” Tang Rui said, a bit overwhelmed. He put down the laptop and reached for the IV stand to get out of bed but then saw the tall man following behind him. Recognizing Zhou Yang, Tang Rui’s eyes turned cold. Zhou Yang rubbed his lips, placed the fruit basket on the table, and set it down.
“Is your health okay?” he asked.
Tang Rui’s voice was cold. “Mr. Zhou is very considerate.”
Zhou Yang had been the one behind the company's maneuver to undermine Tang Rui. Did Tang Rui not know? Zhou Yang smiled, crossed his arms, and leaned against the wall. “You’re too polite. Making my girlfriend come see you at this late hour is really shameless.”
Su Hao shot him a glare.
Zhou Yang pursed his lips and fell silent again.
Tang Rui had already seen their relationship on social media.
There was a hint of melancholy in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared. He looked at Su Hao, who picked up a glass of water from the table and handed it to him. “What did the doctor say? It shouldn’t be anything serious, right?”
Tang Rui took the water and said, “It’s nothing, just overwork.”
Su Hao nodded.
“That’s good. Uncle Tang is quite worried about you. If there’s anything, don’t hide it from him.”
Tang Rui finished the water, placed the blanket back on the table, and was about to speak when his gaze froze, focusing on a red kiss mark on Su Hao’s neck. It was clearly visible on her usually smooth and fair skin. He looked up at Zhou Yang.
Zhou Yang, arms crossed, raised an eyebrow.
Tang Rui instinctively tightened his grip on the edge of the table, his hand turning white from the pressure.
Seeing this, Su Hao said, “Raise your hand quickly, your blood flow has returned.”
Tang Rui looked at Su Hao, his eyes filled with despair, and slowly lifted his hand. Su Hao sighed with relief and said, “Since you’re fine, I’ll head back now.”
Tang Rui replied, “Okay.”
“Do you want to call Uncle Tang, or should I?”
“I’ll call him.”
Su Hao nodded.
Zhou Yang walked over, put his arm around her waist, and turned to head towards the door.
Tang Rui stood there, staring at their retreating figures, lost in thought for a long time.
Once the door to the hospital room closed, the atmosphere improved significantly. Su Hao glanced at Zhou Yang, sensing the domineering and arrogant atmosphere between him and Tang Rui.
Inside the elevator, Zhou Yang pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her face-to-face. Su Hao leaned against his chest, struggling slightly. Zhou Yang wouldn’t let go. “Don’t move.”
“I’m already being very lenient by letting you see him. Just look at those eyes; I want to tear them out.”
Su Hao pinched his side.
“Can’t you be a bit more refined?”
He had been the same with Xiao Qi before.
“Do you think I can be?” Zhou Yang tilted his head and asked in a low voice.
Su Hao didn’t respond.
Soon, they arrived on the first floor. The smell of disinfectant filled the air in the hospital, and although there were few people on the eighth floor, it still felt a bit lonely.
The first floor was full of greenery and ordinary wards, with some moans of pain echoing through the night, giving it a slightly mournful and eerie feeling.
Zhou Yang said quietly to Su Hao, “It’s my mom’s birthday. What gift have you prepared?”
Su Hao snapped out of her thoughts and replied, “I’m not telling you.”
“Really?” he said nonchalantly, then wrapped his arms around her and led her out of the hospital. Su Hao realized that he was trying to distract her from her fear of the hospital by talking.
She glanced at him.
Zhou Yang had already opened the car door and pushed her inside.
As soon as she got into the car, Su Hao’s phone rang. She initially thought it was Tang’s father, but it turned out to be Tang Rui. She hesitated for a moment before answering, “Hello.”
“Su Hao,” Tang Rui’s usually clear voice was tinged with a bit of hoarseness, “I really regret it, Su Hao. Can I keep waiting for you?”
He swallowed hard and started crying.
Su Hao was taken aback.
In the next moment, Zhou Yang snatched the phone away, his voice cold, "Isn't it amazing that you can cry?"
